Could you not get any sadder?
Tragedy seemed to blanket your ladder.
Never knew the rungs…could take you this low

Spent Sunday morning weeping in your bathroom
Feeling for one on the other side of the world
No time for this, off to God’s house you had to go

Pastor said "Be Fishermen of men"and once again
I listened intently, as the choir sang to my soul
Seems as if I was meant to know…affliction of pain knows no boundaries

Watched as my son, reminded me of the one I come from
As the music in the background would play the very song
When 1975 my Daddy passed away…and still to this day…I think of him.

Tonight comes the word that I had not heard
"Dear Dennis so sad to say, Al passed away
Would have called…but lost your number"

We all gotta go and this I know
Just seems I’m always…on the outside looking in

And Only God…knows why

I know this moment.

You capture that odd duality of pain and numbness, as well as the dreamlike quality of being removed from the reality of such news.

I sigh.

The honestly and realness catches on this one. Good job!

Dennis,

Excellent... you hit a few chords of my heart with that poem. We go through so many trials, and ask ourselves "why?" over and over again. But I guess I am learning as you put it, "Only God...knows why."

And may His blessing be upon you.

“We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” –Robert Louis Stevenson

I want to Thank each and every one of you for your kind words regarding this write. Seems with all that has been happening in the World, from Columbia to my personal life, the hearts are mourning.
I'm so touched you were able to relate.
Thank You again.
