Regret

She gets up and looks in the mirror
Wondering what the day will bring
Will it be something unforeseen?
Or a day like all the rest
Nothing new to profess
Just more loneliness

She dries her hair and puts on her makeup
Wondering why
She should even try
To overcome the emptiness
Of the unforgivable foreverness
Of a life gone bad
Wishing for what she never had

She has her coffee in solitude
However did she get to this place?
An enemy with no face
Never leaving a trace
It gets so hard to fake
That she didn’t make a mistake

She sips salty coffee and remembers
The mistake of words spoken without insight
She uttered in such fright
She thought she had no right
Now it’s impossible to move on
When what she denied has gone

She looks out the window
Closing her eyes to the warmth of the sun
Wishing she could undo the undone
If only she had been brave enough to reach for more
She wouldn’t be fighting this daily war

Sea,

Thank you.  I am fine, just expressing.  The saddness is exactly what I wanted to come through.  I am just experimenting with different ways of doing so.

"fighting a daily war" is a great expression that anyone who carries an emotional burden can identify with.  I enjoyed this poem.

You did a good job of bringing out the sadness, the pain. But regrets are only to fade away. Use them as a learning experience, to help you grow and move on.
