I'll walk with you, side by side, through your journey I will abide. And, I'll sit beside you, when you are spent, overladen with tear drops, a willow bent. And, I'll crawl with you, bloody determintion sublime, Pick your cinders from my knees, and grovel in gravel of your climb. But, I will not hold you up, and be your crutch, though I'd like to, ~so very much!~ It breaks my heart, I can't help you, just be there, and know your pain. that's all I can do. It doesn't seem like much to bleed for another, I'd give you my life, as if you're my brother. ~But, I can't!~ For, you are ~you!~ . . I love you more than you know, and more than I can ever show. . . . . ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Professor, Thank you for taking your time to read and reply. I honestly had not given much thought to format....this just evolved...one near and dear to me is having problems and I think I wrote this for that reason more for myself, to see what I can and cannot do to help....but, I will consider what you've said as time allows... Again, I thank you for your time and knowledge and opinion. They mean much. Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Pat, I find so much strength and wisdom in your poetry. I believe you would have made a wonderful youth counsellor. Our young people need to hear words such as yours. Warm hugs, Linda |

Pat, sorry I'm so late replying to your poem. I have had a really bad headache today. I really like the message in your poem. I hope the situation is better real soon. Hugs from Ethel |

Pat, being there for someone It breaks my heart, I can't help you, just be there, and know your pain. that's all I can do. as in that, is a lot more that 'just.' If you make a journey on a high snowy mountain, its detrimental to have a partner. Without one you'll go delusional, unaware of your surroundings you'll either be attacked, or you'll fall asleep, lack of oxygen and the cold will quikly kill you. What you're doing here, is offering hope from that.. and in such a true way, not many are familiar with it. This here, is a good poem! Enjoyed much Hugs and love, Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

Linda, Hey you. So good to hear from you. Young people do need to hear such as this, however, until anyone is willing to take action most help offered is rejected and misunderstood, I'm sorry to say. For my own 'sanity' I am an action person in that I literally have 'to do' something to begin to right a negative..be it a colage, (with pigs once re: a relationship gone wrong- smiling here) list/goal making, (scream on top of a hill works) , making a life-size cardboard doll of me as a child and honoring her; all seem to disipate somewhat the physical power negative emotions have...doing it with someone helps...willingness and belief we can gain control is everything, no matter age... The title I used with this is very important because there are times when we are sincerely devastated and shocked by a life circumstance and at that point I WOULD hold up someone and be their crutch......short term.... Have been contemplating a change in 'career'...it would be in such a field. Thanks, Pat Ethel, Thank you...I love deeply, so makes it difficult to back off and remember my own patterning; so easy to buy into anothers problems, doing more damage than good. Hard when you know the answers and they don't even know the questions yet. As I said in a different poem of mine I have a tendency of planting seeds with a bulldozer...seriously doubt being a counsellor would be a good choice.... Each week there's been one good day, re: the problem...just lots of time... Thanks for your caring... Bill and Michele, Thanks for reading and replying. Roniece... Tsk! Smiling here...Not only am I not a young man, I am not a young lady....Thanks for your time and reply.... Alyssa, Hey you...love your reply. Such wisdom for one so young! We need to talk cause I'd love to know if you (you better be) plan on college, what you plan on doing with your life (study/major in), besides becoming a famous poetess....hope you are doing better...hugs and love, Pat Thanks to all of you, Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Sometimes just being there for someone is the best thing you can do. As much as we all woudl like to be able to help solve everyone's problems, we are human and we can't, so being there to listen, or offering a shoulder or an ear is often the only and best thing to do. I think you expressed your thoughts wonderfully on this and I hope it helped you as well! It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it. ~ Lena Horne |

very nicely written. It's unfortunate that we aren't able to do more for our loved ones....lessen their pain somehow....but often times just knowing you are there and how much you care makes their journey a little easier. |
