In position of the past
the nine of swords spoke true.
Oh I cackled ruefully, and thought
"Oh yeah, what else is new?"

Depicted there was woman's grief
inconsolate--she shields her eyes.
"Oh yes" I thought. "Yes, that is me."
Lost in preference of lie.

For the present augury
I tapped the deck in time of three.
I prayed the gods be kind to me--
but saw that it was not to be.

Between the pillars of all time
"The Tower" mocked me and my prayers.
Even beyond card of Death--
this one feeds me my despair.

"Tower? Tell me what is left?"
I've become a bitter wretch.
Forgetting law of three times three--
I had only thought for me.

"May the future grant me hope."
"ain't no place to go but up."
Thus I argued with the cards.
Destiny? The five of cups.

Three cups prone that held my gaze--
chalice spills the sacrifice.
In grief I turned my back to two--
remaining still upright.

Oracles can hold the key
to beguiling maddening...
"What benefit," I thought, "to see?"
'Delphi' changes not a thing.

Furious, I swept the cards
from the table to the floor.
Never read the cards for self--
I don't think that I need know more...

ooops...for any interested, here is a link to the Rider-Waite deck, with pictures and interpretation.

(and yes, this is an actual reading I did for myself two weeks ago, forgetting the rule that one does not read the cards for self...)

Serenity~ Enjoyed this lesson in tarot card reading. Maybe you could do a reading for me, since I don't know a thing about this.
Drop me a line if you like...Paul

(sigh) I think I'll just leave it to the Palm Reader unless my palms are too dry to interpret! (big hugggssssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

did the cards mention what an awesome poet you are?
if not...the game is fixed and you need a new dealer.
I prefer playing Solitaire...no jokers in the game ....*wink*

So you sit and stew in black
as Tarot seems bent upon attack
now deal the deck with friend in tow
and let us know what cards now show...

wow. Okay. and I know, I know, I know!

I've received a number of e mails in the "you oughtta know betta" tone, and I DO--I really do, know better.

I very seldom use the cards for reading, they are mostly used for meditative purposes and sometimes ritual work now. Okay. Sometimes, I do readings, but...I've never been comfortable with phone readings (and I guess that would include the internet) as my particular method not only allows the subject to handle the cards--I happen to prefer it that way. I do recommend Tarot study, but only as a part of a more extensive study of which involves mythology, (psychology as per Carl Jung's extensive discourses on the metaphysical realm) Hebrew, Astrology, and Bible study. (It all connects--smile...) and Sue? I know better than to read for myself because it's near to impossible to distance me from my own emotional problems, and the interpretation is often clouded by the intellect. I also would like to caution all regarding the shiesters out there--payment for a reading should never be demanded--but there are certain cases where payment is necessary, but never, to my knowledge, in the area of spiritual advisement.

And no...I am not looking for converts. I only hope to grant some insight to "alternative" religions.

And last but not least, my own spiritual advice is that if you have a religion or spiritual practice that lends you some comfort, and helps you to be a better person--practice that. Your heart tells you when it is home. Learn to listen.

Love to you...with my never ending gratitude.

and of course? Blessed Be.
