I had a good friend i thought that really cared.
After eighteen years i realized it was my husband we shared.
I tossed both of them away to show them i didnt really care.
Then i married this lovely man who had so much love to share.
And one day i met a lady who wanted to be a good friend indeed
But i let her know a really good friend i did not need
But most every day she called me on the phone
I would think why cant she leave me alone
Now when i call her she can tell if my heart is troubled
And she will rush to my side right on the double
She reaches out her arms to full length
And takes my hand to give me strength
My friend has such a big giving heart
I am thankful in my life i let her be a part
Now my dear friend i am proud to say.
I am happy to have a friend like you today

You express how hard it is to make a new friend after being burned.

Its good to let someone in though.

it can be so easy to stay away from friends.
And as the other, it can be easy to give up on someone.
Thanks the Lord for friends like this.

Thank you very, very much, Carol.
You already know that you made me cry with this
poem awhile ago when you read it to me on the
phone before you posted it. It brings back a
lot of memories of when we first met when ya'll
first came to our Church. I knew that you had
been hurt really bad when I first met you, but
not the total way you had been hurt, until you
gradually started confiding in me. I'm just glad that
we all became such good friends. Look at all the laughs,
tears, good times and bad that we've all shared
together over the years. Well, I've got to close before
the tears start again, now.

Thank you so much for this. I know that it's from
your heart.
.
.
With love and hugs from your friend,
Ethel...garysgirl...Sadie...Esther...goof-ball...lol

Nicely said. It is kind of funny how women who should support one another, try their best to buddy-up to you when they know they have "stolen" your husband or partner and you are unaware. Even better to catch them in that lie...as I did. They always say  that the man went astray, but it's the women you have to watch who want what you have, and think they are going to have it all...
how little they know...

sorry Carol...memories rising today from your post and Ethel's reply. I try not to be bitter...but I have learned when women want to get too close to you, they usually have an ulterior motive.

M ** sorry, forgot I was in my Alice mode

That is so very heartfelt and lovely. Thank you for sharing it and I hope you do the same for your friend.

Keep on writing,
