My heart beat a bongo drum--
rhythms native underneath
a quivering of leaf betrayed
he tapped of me in restlessness.
This book filled my palm just so...
it curved the way I did.
I was the middle line of white
seperating old highway
squinting in the glare of brights
headlights
blind
to driving gloves
I smelled the scent and drove.

Something
tired
beckoning
just ahead
"We're almost there."
Something
wired
reckoning--
my nose in twitch of air
begging me
"Are we there yet?"
unfurling
black top of despair...

Signs in green and white mock me:
"This is the last-chance destiny."
Trees in charcoal--moss erased--
too fast a glance to make the sketch...

I fear I ride my horse to death--
urgency between my thighs
longing
muscled
in disguise--
I rest behind the silhouette
mountains on horizon's edge--
illusion of low-hanging cloud.

"Tell me? Are we almost there?"

Tell me.

"No. Not quite there, yet..."

Oh..I must disagree....you "made the sketch"
you drew it in verse..colored it in rhyme.

Thanks for reading--and holding my hand a bit, while I "get my land legs" and I swear, sometimes I don't get my own innuendo until the next day!

And I just realized something else--ya'll deserve a big thank you from me--as of today?
You all have been tolerating my insanity for three years!!!

thank you.
