In a corner of the celestial heavens
I'm popping the bubble-wrap sky
as I imagine tiny stars
gather 'round the marks-a-lot fusillade
Without the crackling wood or the
camaraderie
their defiant light
is cold

They came tardy to the earth
instead of framed
by a constellation
they were named for a fee
catalogued in epic greed
The sky is pregnant with useless
information

Though dead,
I was in search of my mother
She has a name that coincides
the listing of saints
Oh, muse Urania
Stay silent Calliope

Every night
in my bitter moon
I replace the tacks
as they fall from the celestial ceiling
to each, my purple thumb
plays God

I bought a coat of flat
I intend to peel long strips
If my room could be a duller white
once all this plastic’s spent

fascinating to say the least!

love the title, wish I'd come up with that phrase...the poem was certainly not what I was expecting, but I enjoyed the read immensely

yep, fascinating! I did expect that aspect!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
