She sat on the bed and listened Knowing most of the story. Her toes separated by cotton balls She took one last stroke of crimson To the end of her large left toe And looked up. He had finished. Sitting there in the chair A glass of whiskey in hand With eyes that seemed To be watching someone speak. “Yes, I still have the .45” she answered him after a pause. He twisted a bit in his chair And propped his legs on the edge of the bed Letting his head fall back With unfocused eyes. “Why don’t you come to bed?” she asked. “Your toes dry enough I won’t mess them up?” he replied with a grin. “No” was her whisper “but, they can be redone.” She pulled the cotton from between her toes And rose to face him. Off Ivory buttons slipped through holes Then buckles rattled in release She kissed him and watched his eyes Change from dark brown to hazel As the sun caught them Shameless |

Great scene! Enjoyed. I like these lines which ~almost~ could be a poem in themselves... "Off ivory buttons slipped through holes Then buckles rattled in release." Enjoying your writing. Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Vivid! Captivating! A .45"? Is he sure he wants to do this? Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

I love the lines about the eyes, those last three. Really intriguing. "I don't need to scream for you to deem me aggravation." |
