I can’t shake it now this feeling like Cassandra’s complex,
my silent screams reverberate through hearing trumpets;
to know more is less and this knowledge is little else but a hex,
while reclining on their couch Cheshire cats eat scones and crumpets
the hookah smoking characters like the house of Liaus have sex.
strolling the streets the next morn, inspecting meat of which to make strumpets.
through these skyscraping walls I walk without Deadalaus’ thread,
whence I came I do not know, this madness forever grows.
those that walk beside me in business suits concealing lives long dead,
the grass sprouts like weeds between the concrete rows.
on this bed of rebar nails I will someday lay my head,
but when the fates shall cut my string only God knows.

Well written, but a few names in this poem of whom I am not familiar.

However the last line says so much.
How important to say the ~I love yous~ on a daily basis and make an apologies needed. We just never know. Kacy has a poem on line this morning which provoked my same sentiments.

Enjoyed this.

A previous resident of the east bay area, San Lorenzo to be exact....
and now I don't worry so much about the ~big one~, just forest fires...
can't get away from natural disasters, no matter where you live, which really makes this poem so relevant.

Serious piece, yet I had a chuckle with that cat imagery. Enjoyed the cracks between the sidewalk.
