Waving quietly from my door
I bid you farewell
Godspeed.
You hurry off in pursuit of life
seeking what
you say you need

“Take care!” I whispered in your ear
I love you,
I could not say
And thus, you left to find yourself
on this cold,
November day.

Winter’s chill is nothing to me
I’ve a coldness
deep inside
Never will I feel that warmth
Because today,
I know you lied.

You left to be with her again
though you
could not say it to me
This time I won’t leave on the light
the darkness
shall set me free

Silence holds back my tears
but into my heart
they will surely fall
Saying goodbye for the last time
for good,
once and for all.

Oh my, a tightening in my stomach and a shiver...you captured so well this kind of separation. This is so well written.

Oh Sharon, this is written so well that even though it's heartbreaking, it's still beautiful.
.
.
I must say, though, that when I saw the title I was afraid you were going to leave here, too. It seems like so many are saying they're leaving, lately. I'd be like some of the ones, though, and come back here just as soon as i could. I know you would, too. After all, this is "home" and our big "family of friends" are always here with wide open arms to welcome people back....

Thanks for sharing your poetry with us, sweet poetess......

Oh, Sharon. this one left me swallowing hard. Beautifully written, but so very sad.
The last farewell leaves such a hollow space.

Your words weave a beautiful verse, full of emotion. It is sad that at times we must let go of those we love, for is what is so binding to our emotions.

Thank you so much for your kind words. And thank you for reading me. So you don't get the wrong idea, this is fiction - most of my work is fictional. But I haven't posted in awhile and dug this one out of the archives.

Hello Poet de Vine
You and I
We know each other for a small while
I just happen to read a bit here and there
and I saw your headline
Naturally I had to come and see
Glad you're staying
and not running off like me
However so, my dear friend
Very nice poem and yes it did hit deep

Deep and heartfelt sigh, sure do know how this feels, you brought it all back so clearly.

As always you have captured the essence of the feelings that happen in different situations in our lives...

PoetDeVine,
although you say it is fiction - it feels real and that is the mark of a great poet. Kudos!
