(This is a song for all the youth of the world to be graceful and to neer stop dancing, and inspired and dedicated to my favorite artist...SHAKIRA! I am finally going to see her in concert next Tuesday...WOO-HOO!!! ROCK ON!!!)

Grace
By: Noah Eaton
1/24/02

I approach the bright lights at ease
Mothers speaking in my lungs, my father through my throat
All my colleagues are lined up like militia
Watch, because between the lines
I'm going to be making waves
Juxtaposing my blessings in this diocese
And I will be the vicar forene and convert all my fears

Oh, strum my heart like a tuning fork
Start me up and I'll show you what this is all for
Via media, up above, doesn't matter where I go
Wait until I start up the show
I'm not crazy, I'm just feeling feisty
But I have a right to be once in a while
So let me shake my tambourine!

I'll shake it up
I'll tune it up
So turn it up
I'm the graceful one!

Moth, come and dance with this flame
Play by ear, need not pay for this telephone exchange
Insert your coins to begin this cycle
It's you, me, and the music
Here where yield signs are forbidden on my avenues
Watch as my legs dissolve like tapioca
Repel these tidal waves of metaphors and paint in tempera
Be temerarious, vibrate, vibrate, tuck your masks away
Would you give anything to be
Would you give anything to be?

From my toes
To my knees
To my chest
And onto my heart
I'm astonished by this beat
Cellophane wits and silicone pursuits
Solecism one may say, but independence to another
Just behold my somatology
Just behold how I can move with God!

I'll shake it up
I'll tune it up
So turn it up
I'm the graceful one!

Sirens used to blind me, the darkness became my exorcist
I used to cry a river and live my life like a mad scientist
But now I'll be the sommelier, the guest of honor
Shilly-shally becomes shimmy when you vacillate
You thought your image was Neapolitan ice cream
You're everything, so rise to the podium and sing
You're the architect, the spitting image
The time is now, so let's get to business

Some may say I'm selling my soul, but I'm only artistic
Drink your ambrosia, assemble your seance
Order a search warrant for any of the music in you
Rock on, rock lobster, make a replevin
Release the music in your soul, let it all out
Bury yourself in the power ballad, sweet songbird
You've got hands, you've got soul
You've got hips that reverberate the living word
Shake it up, shake it up, shake it up
Shake it up, let your manifesto be accented out loud...

I'll shake it up
I'll tune it up
So turn it up
I'm the graceful one!
I'll shake it up
You know, you know I will
I'll tune it up
Dance with me now
So turn it up
You know, you know I will
I'm the graceful one!

Be temerarious, tuck your masks away
Would you give anything to be
Would you give anything to be?
Embrace Grace, embrace...

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Shakira

Noah, this is really good. I like the passion and feeling that you wrote this with.
I'm glad that you're going to one of her concerts. Have you ever seen her in person before?
Thanks for sharing with us...

There is nothing like the live music of someone with whom you are in tune, be it Nat King Cole or KISS.  The emotions in your poem show that you are certainly pumped up.  Enjoy!!  KJ

Young man, without the shadow of a doubt you have the grace in you and are setting the paradigm for this generation's youth! Shakira is awesome, after all her name means "woman of grace" in Arabic! Have fun!
