Last Supper Her routine rarely varies; A working mother..... Days into days of “self sacrifice” She listens to him with Iron paws and emasculating jaws, Swallowing the gingerbread man whole Quasar syllables, diatribes uncouth Bounce off concrete jungle walls Decking the halls with violence and strife Slapping memories into his fragile youth….. His latch key tucked away for the night No help found, no escape in sight He sits dreaming, wondering What’s cooking for supper As she continues to stir It may be his last.... Poetry is: |

Cher, I took this to portray a classic single mother with young to teenaged boy child....and all the difficulties they encounter, and especially him....will he make it through one more day, with the life he's living....(latch-key) and other phrases you used....plus, I was a single mother with kids who had a difficult time adjusting to me being gone til 5:30 PM... Anyway, this works for me and I enjoyed the poem a great deal.... Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

A big thanks to all for responding. Pat got it right.. this refers to the young pre-teen boy next door and all the abuse I hear going on day in and day out...and the mom's views of it to her friends... but, what I hear has me calling 911 often. I am the "evil " neighbor, because i call the police... and what she is a cookin' is anger stew and another night of nasty demeaning verbalizations and slaps and crashes, This breaks my heart. and hey, I don't argue or fight with my man...I may walk away until we can speak civilized, but no arguements found here and no no no abuse to me or from me. I have had too many years of that already. aGAIN, THANKS FOR THE READ AND CARE AND FEEDBACK another sequel? GAWD I pray not... aloha and hugs t' all my friends here at Pips, Cher Poetry is: Passion, imagination and intellect running together. Aloha with warmest regards, Cheryl Stewart Koomoa [This message has been edited by CSKpoet (01-24-2003 10:41 PM).] |

Disturbingly reminiscent. Probably more powerful to me for the memories it stirs up. "I don't need to scream for you to deem me aggravation." |
