"Da lawd is gonna bless ya, chile.." I squinted at him through the fence. An old black man on knobby knees leaned there on a grocery cart filled with cans that he'd picked up (some of them were prob'ly MINE) "My momma used to do the same..." He wiped his head and then sun shined. Through the clouds peculiar ray of light in stand to cradle him... I dropped the seedling in my hand-- I knew I was with child again. The logic argued in my brain-- he's just refracted ray of rain. His wrinkles leapt upon his face. "Yep, da lawd will grant you grace." And in this manner prophets speak. I named my boy "Zachary" for he is a gift from God. [This message has been edited by serenity blaze (12-16-2002 04:18 AM).] |

Reminds me of "Willie", an old man that hung around the General Store. Dispensing gems, while wearing his net worth. Terrific writing ~yeti |

His wrinkles leapt upon his face. "Yep, da lawd will grant you grace." And in this manner prophets speak. this reminded me of "the light coming on" and it was the point that I 'got' the poem... very nice. |

Dixie...thank you dear friend. You make me happy knowing you enjoy. LP? It amazes me that you like my sh-tuff..grin. I value your opinion much, and this? Is actually a part of a series I've been writing about me and the sisters and the adventures we shared while living together as three--gasp--single women! (obviously a short lived slice o life) Thank you m'friend. Eagle? smiling now...this one I'll admit to be true. My life is filled with such weirdness. Hugs and laughs. Thank you for reading! Kari? I knew each time, but I was in denial. I was actually planting a garden at the time, and the sun was shining while it rained, and I was sitting there feeling, well, fertile and up strolled the aluminum can prophet. (hmmm...methinks there's a better poem in there somewhere! and pssst...happy belated b'day! Sharon? you know my boy, so you know. Thanks YOU. I'm prouder of both of my children every day, (and yes, there is one about Krista...smile, but you'll have to wait!) Love you lady. Ed...This one came about after talking to bri...I owe ya'll both a debt of gratitude for listening to my ramblings while I dredge up the forgotten. You guys make me feel like my entire LIFE is poetry. Yeti hugs. sy...the little man is not so little anymore. I'm amazed to look UP at him and remember this. Amazing stuff, life is. sweetwater? gotta hug ya! I do try to layer my "reality" poems with undercurrent of a more universal understanding. Thank you for "getting" it! Richard--always honored to know you've read me. I'll say it again, you write with courageous honesty, which is something I do strive for m'self. Thank you. and oh my Luscious one! I am so happy to see you gracing the forum again, and delighted you continue to read me with such patience. Thank you lovie! Your friendship is a gift as well. Now...I should go read methinks. I've been rather neglectful and for that I apologize yet again. I do love you good poet people! |
