A Promise in the Waking

there
low on the eastern horizon
hangs a remnant of yesterday
a gray, dirty cotton-fluff
that thins in the rise

a tinge of golden glow
spans its highest climb
and deeper blue ensues
behind and above
earthen silhouettes

a lovely promise
of a new day
a glorious unfolding
of glimmered skies

the refreshment
from sweet rains
has awakened flora
and waiting soil

has now come
and is followed
wonderfully
by the promise
of golden sun

fauna and mankind
are dressed in renewal
of this sweet day

I know you did not write this for me,
Virginia...
but I am still going to claim it...

This is probably one of your best...

lovely, lovely imagery.

Fluid and vivid like the rain.
Made me picture Spring. Thanks.

It's amazing I won. I was running against peace, prosperity, & incumbency.
