I have no desire to make time
or watch the clock any longer
but I will never forget how it stood still
for you and I.

When you held my heart in your hands
running your fingertips over the glass
that you handled so carefully
so as not to break the fragility
over time.

I still believe that to be true
and I will never stop believing in you
but time is not ours to slow down
nor try to race against
for it was never ours to begin with.

My days are no longer filled with your magic
or the motion of your hands that traced my face
so much time has passed since then
as the pendulum swings
marking the time.

How quickly it turns into days and weeks
until they become years and turn away
tainting our reflection in the glass
that no longer plays the chimes
for you and I.
