There  was  a  gentle breeze
on  that  beautiful  sunny  day
It whispered  in  their  ears
as  they  gleefully  play
They  see  the  butterflies
gracefully  flying  by
They  smile  at  each  other
With  a  little  sigh

Spreading  the  blanket  out
upon  the  soft  white  sand
They  sat  down  as
he  gently  took  her  hand
Looking  across  the  water
their  thoughts  were  of  each  other
Her  thoughts  were  of  their  future
His thoughts,  not to have,  he'd rather

Knowing  he  would  break  her  heart
with  the  words  he  had  to  say
She  wanting  them  together
for  forever  and  a  day
He  would  have  to  tell  her
it  was  over  for  the  two  of  them
He  was  staying  with  his  wife
for  she  meant  much  more  to  him

Never  wanting  this  to  happen
the  love  between  her  and  him
Now,  the  thing  he  had  to  do
so  difficult  for  each  of  them
But  he  couldn't  leave  her  then
when  he  saw  her  tears  flowing
He'd  stay  a  little  longer
then  HAVE  to  say  he's  going

He's  wondering  how  this  happened
how  they  got  so  deeply  involved
He  only  knew  this  problem
had  to  definitely  be  resolved
He's  not  this  kind  of  person
to  break  a  heart  intentionally
But  this  affair  had  to  end
he  knew  for  sure,  eventually
He  had  told  her  when  it  started
he  only  wanted  to  have  fun
Not  knowing  that  he  would
really  care  about  this  one

He  knew  he  would  break  her  heart
with  the  words  he  had  to  say
She,  wanting  them  together
for  forever  and  a  day

Yes, sweet Dixie, I know that you understand. I think most married men who start affairs don't really intend to fall in love.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ethel, now I'm flooding in tears because this is ever so common and I don't want to be one of those men, as I truly loved Joanna and I mean REALLY loved her and didn't want to ever take her friendship for granted and take advantage of her, but in my case scenario it was my Joanna who broke my heart! (wipes tears) I only want to make my girl happy and love her from the heart and not constrain, restrain, or simply strain her in any way, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Uh huh...... another lesson learned the hard way.  Funny thing how you can't just pick and choose who you're going to fall in love with.   It's a dangerous game when you put yourself in to play.

Glad to hear this isn't your story though Ethel.

Noah, I know that you loved Joanna. I'm sure that she knew it, too.
It's just that the game people play sometimes,
gets very dangerous....especially when a wife or husband are involved.

Michele, Oh no. Gary and I are both completly un-attached.....
in every way. He's divorced and my husband is dead.
In this poem I was just thinking of how the guy might feel.
When I worked at a factory (years ago), they told me when I
first went to work there that everybody there was either
divorced, in the process of getting a divorce, or
thinking about getting a divorce.....So, many of my friends
that I met there talked to me about their problems....men and women.

I've always had some men friends who were nothing but friends.

Salty,
Yeah, I think most people who play these games don't intend
things to get serious. But, they usually do. You know, when
people see each other at work every day things just
happen sometimes, if they let themselves ever get into
that type situation.
Oh yeah, I'm very glad, too, that this isn't about me and Gary.
I thought I'd better put the explanation so everyone wouldn't
think that it is. We were both un-attached before we started
our relationship. In fact, that's how we ever got started
talking in the first place. He was in the process of getting a divorce
when my husband died. we started talking about everything
and became very good friends before we fell in love with
each other. Neither of us were looking  for  someone when
we found each other.
We both are very glad that we did find each other, though.

Very, very nice write Ethel. It was an interesting perspective from the man's side. I think some get very, very hurt while others just walk away without a care in the world.

Yes, Marti, I do too. Some just play the game, not caring who gets hurt...the wife or the girlfriend.

Hi Gemma
It made me feel good that you noticed I haven't been
around here as much lately. It's nice to be missed, sometimes.

I thank you, too, for your kind words about the poem.
I can always count on you to say something encouraging to me,
even when I don't think the poem's all that good.
By the way, I miss you when I don't see you here much, too.....
