How do you learn to be a dad? To love someone so small There's no instructions You either fly or fall How do you begin to care? Their hurt you can't ignore They need some time with dad To play, learn, and explore What gives you that emotion? To just break down and cry As you marvel at accomplishments That make you burst with pride Why do you work so hard? To provide a loving home Doing anything just for them Even as they grow and roam Where do I get these feelings? This sense to be duty-bound No example for me to follow For mine was not around Maybe doing without mine Made me come to realize A "Daddy" is not a donor But someone to idolize Anybody can be a "Father" it takes someone special to be a "DADDY" |
