the magical moon
stays in her eyes,
as she listens
to storybook rhymes,
serenading her along
to the land of dreams,
of ballerinas and barbie dolls,

and soon, she awakens
on a winters dawn,
as the sun stays asleep,
the night moon reborn,
full in face
with shadows of white,
in the still blackened sky,
she wakes up to this sight,

and she wonders aloud
was this only her dream,
or did the moon wait up
the night
just to greet her

Nice poem Michele. Made me think of my daughter and brought back happy memories. But why do they have to grow up? I guess we all get older, one day at a time. You know I enjoy reading your "stuff:.

inkedgoddess - the moon never sleeps, I wonder why. It draws one into it, like this poem...

Good words, good words.
Thank you for sharing.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Sweetly are spoken
- a little girl's dream -
before they are broken
she serves cups of tea and cream
her toys and joys litter her feet
in plated white glow on a moony street
So sweetly they are spoken -
a little girl's dreams

(sorry...my muse working some OT, but your poem said exactly what i picture some young tender lass to have dreamed of....)
