“The hero is commonly the simplest and obscurest of men.” ~Henry David Thoreu The Hero He was only nineteen and not yet a man When he joined the army, went to Vietnam And proudly fought to keep our country free I was just a baby, barely eight months old When he saved six lives, or so I’m told In that far off land, way across the sea Chorus: And the sky fell And the rivers ran red He could have run away But he fought instead Then a letter came The news it bore was bad They said he was a hero But he was just my dad My brother fought fires up in N-Y-C Had a house and a dog and a family Was on duty the day they issued up the call Oh, others ran out, but he had to run in There were lives to save in the towers twin And no one dreamed the ending of it all Chorus: And the sky fell And the fires burned red He could have run away But he stayed instead Many lives were saved Yet the world in grief was sad They say he was a hero But he was just someone’s dad Oh, they say you are a hero Just say hello to dad ~ Ruth If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Ruth, you should seriously persue having this song done. I don't know how you do that sort of stuff, but this is powerful, I loved it. |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Ruth, this is so beautifully heartfelt, this made me cry as I know so many wives and children had to cope with these tears during this tumultuous time but they will always be our heroes! (sigh) I love to write lyrics all the time too, I write my own songs and get inspirations from all kinds of genres, as a matter of fact I am seeing my favorite artist a week from tonight...SHAKIRA!!! (smiles) I am VERY excited about that as she is a true poet with an upbeat musical soul, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ruth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Very touching, enjoyed reading it. Of all I've lost; I miss my innocence the most. |

A hero comes in many shades... You've colored him beautifully... |

sad..... but enjoyed greatly... Very good topic also. Thanks for sharing. I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait. |
