Machiavellian Meaning

January just jostled by,
flipping February fast,
mangling March magnificently,
almost absolving April,
then melted mincingly into mocking
an early Mayish day…

and Sun, she shone on the
found finesse of us, as she wickedly watered
the wet of snow, as we watched the
hatchlings of larvae lift lightly,
even eying early eruption
of buds, begging early bloom…

then dusk deigned to rainbow radiantly, only
as Kansas can, convincingly,
cleverly, cunningly,

but somewhere, out there…
winter still has a haughty hold,
and this, a brief
respite ringing ‘round in the hull
of squirrels running seriously
in search of joy

before winter wields warnings
and the blue grays,
and the rainbows
are but a brief
bow to
tomorrow.
