Quiet Perhaps it was because she was too ill to hold me, those first months, that before the first cry of my awake, he would come, and lift me, holding me quietly… later, in the middle of my youth, I knew when he knew that it was time for us to do our morning dance, he would quietly fix the coffee, and I his toast, he would boil the eggs, I would bring the dishes to table the silent waltz of father/daughter. Sleepy heads missed the unfolding golden mornings, they missed the kiss of fog on roses, and the brush of the hummingbird wings that would visit, he and I in the quiet. Perhaps it is because in his ill I held him last, as the early morning rise of sun brought to the morning fog a glint of the mystic that would stay even though he would not fix coffee again. I rise each morning to the quiet sounds of remembering, smelling deep the liquid warm of yesterday’s hot coffee and hearing yet the golden quiet and hushing sweep of hummingbird wings. ![]() Love, Karilea |

"I rise each morning to the quiet sounds of remembering, smelling deep the liquid warm of yesterday’s hot coffee and hearing yet the golden quiet and hushing sweep of hummingbird wings." --------------------------------------------- May I please have a tissue? Beautiful...the love between a father/daughter. So wonderfully told here Karilea... Very very special this write...yes it is. I only wish I could express my feelings or a moment so well, in writing, about my dearly departed father. ~Hugs & Smiles, Nancy~ ~Time has cast a spell on you, |

y'know, its hard to get tears to my eyes... It can be easier to try to forget things... But I still always wait for 'her' to wake me up with singing... *sigh* :-/ anyway.. out of that world...I enjoyed this.. next time tell me to get a tissue first. Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

This is touching beyond belief. But where just where did you warn us it was going to be a 'tissue needer?' If we traveled backwards, from end to beginning, would the road, I wonder |

Karilea--Sometimes we are blessed with memories so sweet that to write about them is near impossible, but not for you. ![]() |

I agree with the others this was definitely a tissue warning poem, *Sniff, *HuGS. Keth. Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Dear sweet Karilea, since I've been here I've heard (read) you say over and over again that the writer is always supposed to warn when a tissue is needed.... You didn't warn, so I had to stop before I finished reading to get one.... This one made me want to call my Daddy, but I'm afraid they're already gone to bed.... The poem and picture were beautiful, Lady.... "Love makes the world go around" |
