We Humans are warts
on the face
of our Mother, Earth.
Some day she will find
a powerful medicine
and remove us,
permanently,
and the scar tissue
will be merely a
bad memory.
Then again,
we are just as likely
to scrape ourselves off
in a childish fit
typical of our collective
self-destructive
mis-behavior.
And someone's version
of God
will be laughing
Her head off, wondering why it took
this many wars and so much
pollution
to finish off
such naughty offspring.
And then, perhaps
She will take a closer look
at the beauty
of the cockroach.

No critiques, my dear,
just applause.

Never quite sure where you're going to take me
when I open up one of your poems...
sure enjoy the ride...

thanks, for being YOU!

Karilea, back at you with that reply.
We need stronger seatbelts and more indestructible air bags.

Paladin, so good to have a visit with you.
Actually, I can imagine Mother Earth without two leggeds. But I hope we learn some self-control and stick around 'till we are more grownup.

Kacy,

Me too, but I don't think that'll happen. Yes, wouldn't it be nice without the pollution of the soul, both individually and as a group.
Sad, sad, sad....

Really think cockroaches would behave themselves and share and not pollute?
Who cleans up their waste. Probably some dung-eating bug...Hmmmmmmm.
Was there a plan?

I adore your compassion and empathy and willingness to fight for what is right. As I said before, I don't get too involved as I don't have enough self-control, I'd have to slug some of these....oh, never mind....enough said.

Hugs to you, Pat

If the roaches ever do take over, we'll all need our Balladeer.

IF roaches take over...here in New Orleans? They already have.

and this is so true, we do deem ourselves pretty important, don't we?

loved this...

and oh. I was ready to spout off my list of wart remedies too, but I hear the one that works just dandy, is DUCT tape. Seems warts can't survive without oxygen. Looks like we are working on THAT remedy already, eh?
