Do not wake

Please do not wake
the sleeping eyes,
the ones that do not dream,
where rest is one’s work
from evil pries
and lumbering, thundering scenes.

“No rest for the wicked”
that’s what is said,
so the lord of the manor is good;
no rest for me
nor my weary head,
so I am spent, and writing my blood.

This is my time,
though nay, it’s not,
my time is not of here and now;
for I was then
and what was got,
yet tomorrow I’ll be, somehow.

And if this is
a riddle for you,
then truly, you read me well;
for like as is
this comes in view,
then your life is surely my hell.
