Strange Songs (revised)

The others are asleep -
women and children in tents,
men on the ground,
wrapped like babes
in blankets.

Sandalwood fog fills the camp,
white, ghostly wisps drifting
from a stranger’s fire.
The woody scent seeps into her bed,
she dismisses it as cheap.

He sings foreign words,
plucks strings of an old guitar.
She tries to ignore his soft songs,
but in the distance,
the canyon apes in chorus.
She covers her ears.

The melody snakes like smoke  –
golden tones bringing sleep.
Her dreams are with him
and of an isthmus within.

Corrine, it seemed I was looking at a picture of people in the old western days at a campsite....like a movie.

(sigh) That's what I love to do in all my spare time, write songs and hope to get them recorded for the youth of the world to enjoy! (sigh) I am also covering The Allman Brother's "Whipping Post" and the House of Blues right now in addition, this is comely, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

ah...you never disappoint.

(and this reads quite lovely with Jethro Tull instrumentals btw)

you give me the urge to don bells and go dancing.
