The Nursing Home Two beds with starched white sheets two chairs with protective covers two bedside tables stacked neat two florescent lights hover Two smiling young aides two sets of helping hands One life about to fade Life I'll never understand. This is my first poem posted on this site. I am a CNA , and I swear I learn a new life lesson everyday. ps--my b/f told me of this site....he used to post all the time..some of you might know him, i believe his username was "Jacman" ---Alana |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Alana, this is so very sad but well-written, sweet friend, this is a touching debut that too has me asking that same question as I send angel hugs and prayers out to all who endure these feelings, God Bless You! Welcome to Passions, sweet Alana, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your lovely words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Alana, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Alana, I know you are going to enjoy being part of the poetic family, and I look forward to reading more of your work. I volunteer at a senior care facilty, so I know where you are coming from, and there are days I just simply shake my head. A very happy holiday to you and yours. Season's Greetings from my home in Canada to yours! [This message has been edited by Mysteria (12-18-2002 03:11 AM).] |

Welcome to Passions, Laney! Your job is not an easy one, and for you, compassion and peace will become a full time job. You will be receiving, and dealing out, a lot of emotion on various issues. Writing will become an escape, and I will welcome your thoughts. Please, check your E-mail for a Special Greeting! Karilea |

I worked in a nursing home once, and I have still never been able to put into words, the mixture of emotion and mood there. There is hope, and yet there is hopelessness. There is sadness, and yet the little moments of clarity and joy are something to be treasured. I found that no matter the state of the residents, there was a smile to be had in every room if you look close enough. Lovely writing. "My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words |

Welcome. I understand your work. Even the best days can leave you with a hollow feeling, yet those moments are so full of humanity you cannot help but feel you've touched the essence of Life within those final goodbyes. |
