While western skies in sunset blush, Falls on the land a solemn hush, Unknown gods guard lonely plains, As vespertine in glory reigns. Not yet the end of burning day, Not yet the come of night's display, But eventide; comes twilight's calm, Lays on the land her soothing balm. Rolling prairies in supplication, Kneel before dusk's revelation, Splendored splendor at daylight's end, Before the black of night's descend. Forgotten sorrows in day's surcease, Comes vespertine, comes perfect peace. |
