This is an acoustic ramble and not really searching for a commercial spot. Harry Chapin or Dylan type of thing if anything. There's something mystic in the air some believers find no peace, and there's confusion here and there youth can't escape the grief. Clergymen they pour the wine. Big business give thier dues. Neither one dares cross the line their closets in dark rooms. There's some patrons feeling slighted while their leaders roam the globe. There's some faithful poor and frightened with their pockets full of holes. But I let freedom light the dark with a vision once disguised and there's no balcony nor harp ain't no stairway to climb. I'm living in the afterglow of the fire and heat, while cosy christians pay a toll to phalic window scenes. But beyond this big comotion I hear the tradewinds blow, out where the Lord's not poaching my money for my soul. You might ride a bicycle or drive a Cadillac. Might sit up in the front row or way down at the back. Might be a big C.E.O. or be taking out the trash. Whatever way you come and go someday you're going back, back past the saints in robes blocking heavens pass. Now they might say they're selling hope but the Lord's not short of cash. -------------------- The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up |

ethome, I think you are right, the Lord's not short of cash after all, we have been told for generations to lay up treasure in heaven but have you ever noticed that once you've laid it up there, it's difficult to find again. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Eric, this is so very true, sweet friend, that is kind of how the whole idea of Lutheranism began, when there was the impression you could buy your way into heaven and the whole Protestant tradition rose after the 90 Theses were published! (sigh) Whatever treasure there is you must be deserving of to achieve it, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eric, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

But it is a statement that sends a powerful message. It's a sign of the times that don't appear to be changing much! Much enjoyed the read ethome. |

Take the rib off of the pit. douse again the barbecue. Slice another piece of pie in praise of red, and white and blue. Sing the praises and salute cheat your taxes on the sly-- rest easy in your lazy boy and don't forget the misty eyes squeezed back with chug of beer... and ooh..we really should jam sometime E... love you my hippy man dude! |

Ethome...This goes down as smooth as a glass of 100 year old wine. Waiting for the music to stop, so I can quit singing...Paul "To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you" |

Now you have to know I just love this one, and feeling like hearing the melody that was planned for it but I am creating my own. Looks like we whistle the same tune on this one. Great job. ~ The soul lies buried in ink that does not flow ~ |

excellent song-i could certainly see an early dylanesque song structure to this. thinking "with god on our side" with a transition at the end. |
