If only the ocean that separates us was a puddle, so whenever you were down I could just jump over it and give you a cuddle. If only I could reach out and gently kiss your lips, and place my hands delicately on your hips. If only when I gazed at the stars I could turn around and see the brightest one by my side, Just the two of us alone on a meadow acres wide. If only each time my soul felt abandoned or in fear , I could reassure myself that you would always be near. If only each time I was cold your presence could warm me up and fill my heart with heat, and excite me more than a dancing crowd could be excited by a drum's melodic beat. If only each time you were cold I could give you my jacket to wear and sit with you by a fire, And stay with you through the night listening to your breathing, and hear it harmonise with silence's choir. If only each time we were warm we could lie down next to eachother, on the sand of a cool beach, with our feet dipping in the sea; On a beach far from the mass's reach, unknown to everyone and everything but you and me. And if only we could stay there until the sun had retreated and we were all who were awake, And secretely watch the moon soothe the troubled tide of its persistant ache. If only we could always be together so your company I would never miss, No more moments of solitude thinking nothing but this... If only I could spend my entire life with you, If only one day all these "if only's" would come true. |
