I like
the
grey,

weatherworn
look of

you.

Like
a fence,
sunbleached
by
time.

Yet,
so strong,
upright.

Protecting
me.

The rains
of yesteryears,

mellowed
the
grain
of
you,

and,

I grow green
beneath
your
splendor.

I really like this. It makes me feel protected and safe  ..under the care of someone who knows what they're doing and is very loving.

Good write.

Dennis and Salty,

Thanks to you both. Glad you like.
Out here in CA., not sure abt. back east, the fences bleach out to a mellow, beautiful grey..one in my backyard has perpetutual, gorgeous, thick green vines beneath & caused this simple poem. Again, thanks for responding.  Hugs, Pat

This reminded me of the old salt sailors and fishermen who go out of their way to protect and take care of what is theirs.

I liked this very much and I especially liked the images it conjured up for me.

Hugs, Marti

I am amazed sometimes, that the most simple things can inspire--your explanation made the words even more meaningful--enjoyed!!

I liked its ambiguity and openness to allow everyone to interpret in their own way, and make it special. And that's certainly what it is for me! Thanks for sharing, Pat!
