When I Fall to My Knees When I fall to my knees When I’m there on the floor I grow taller in stature Than ever before When I fall to my knees With my face to the ground He raises my eyes To the light of His crown When I’m folding my hands My arms are outstretched And I’m fingering words On the tablets He etched When I whisper a prayer I am shouting His praise When I lower my eyes It’s my heart that I raise When I humbly bow It’s more noble a pose Than the regal demeanor Of the time honored rose When I knock on His door I’m inviting Him in And He willingly comes To relinquish my sin With shades of humility Drawn on my face When I stoop to His feet There’s no loftier place When I’m kneeling in prayer When I’m trembling with fears What seeps out of my eye Is the sweetest of tears When I fall to my knees I am rising above All the scorn of the earth To His heavenly Love Elizabeth Santos |
