Holy Ghost and Holy Book

When time for Him to leave this place,
His earthly body shed,
He promised us an Advocate
Spirit of Truth instead.

Christ, the loving Intercessor
Is living with the Lord.
In God's own Book and in our hearts
We hold His living word.

They gathered that first Pentecost
Amidst the tongues of fire;
As knowledge of all languages
Christ's friends somehow acquire.

Three thousand added to their ranks
On that amazing day,
The beginnings of the Christian Church,
Now come such a long way.

With the Holy Ghost to guide us
And the clear word in His Book,
We can walk the narrow pathway
If we listen close and look.
