Sorry, I know I shouldn't post this much. This is the last one for a while, I promise! I do not look Because I do not wish to see For this face: Deformed, thin, pale Might remind myself Of Me I do not listen Because I am afraid to hear The cries, the screams, the pleas Because there is nothing I can do Without leaving home, my shelter Stepping out from what is near I do not touch Because I do not want to feel This skin Dark, dirty, bruised It cannot be Is not The same as mine What is in a touch? It cannot heal I do not love Because how can I? Their world is broken Dangerous, foreign, primitive I would go and help- Really- But what if, what if I die? But their world… Their world is my world What if I die? But everyday they die Why won’t I love? Amidst the death Famine, war, plague Still they pray Believe Love So I reach. Slowly at first, and I feel So I look. Through the destruction, and I see. So I listen. Amidst the barriers, and I hear. They are me, we are one. One global community. For through the obstructions Despite them, with them, because of them I grow to respect And not fear the knowledge And the responsibility that comes along The apple is in my hand… And I take a bite. And I love. Without reservation. These are my brothers- And sisters- Alone, shivering, starving I cannot feed them all But I can do what I can I can try I cannot hear all their stories But I can listen with my heart I can try I cannot touch them all Hug them all Meet them all Maybe not even any But I can do my best I can try. But, then I cannot love them all But- but, I do. I do look Because it is better to know We cannot stay at home And hide Because this world is our home And when we look- Look And we really try to understand, really see We will find those faces Desolate, yet full of hope Those are the faces Of you and of me. |

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, yes, here are faces among this whole collage that beam with hope and need a helping hand and in finding these faces, we come closer to finding a remedy for each other! (sigh) This is lovely, sweet friend, look high and low, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Wow, this is awesome. I know the struggle though. Lately I feel as though I've been dying everyday, and though it may be right, its hard to say I want other people to feel that, too. I'm glad you chose whats right.. or I could say, 'the road less traveled' very good! Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

This poem started out like Petra's Rose Colored stainglass windows" and ended like Randy Stonehill's "Who will save the Children?" Well written... got me thinking. Sherry |

First - This is a wonderful poem - Its introspective theme is excellent. I also think that "I Do Not Look" is a fine title. Last, but no less important - You surely haven't over-posted. We happily enjoy up to three posts per day from any of our Passions members. Let's see more from you, OK? [This message has been edited by Nan (10-11-2003 08:58 AM).] |
