Too long has man sat at the center of his universe Thinking that all of life revolves around him, Such is the infantile view of things We must outgrow not living on such a whim! We think that we are so deserving And spectacular --the king of the hill, But until we view things as God sees them We will always suffer from self-will. To see ourselves and our place in this life On God must our focus persist, For He is the Everlasting Creator And by Him alone we exist. To nothing are we entitled It's but for His goodness and grace, That we are alive, have our being-- That we have this thing called human race. As to Him we look we are humbled How low He descends for our need, Even to torturously dying Christ died, crucified on that tree. When will we come to our senses And submit to this God up above, To give Him those praises deserving And seek His great help and His love? A debt of Love never recovered By the One who has given so much, And then of us asks so little But that we praise Him for that touch. It's only in full surrender Our greatest of freedom is known, To be free of self and sin's burden To live to His praises alone. Forsake all your selfish endeavors Let God in your life reign supreme, Only when this is done we return to God, who will make life serene. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Author notes: Based on video sermon Ten Shekels and a Shirt,(found on YouTube). This empassioned sermon of Paris Reidhead is a very powerful and pointed one that truly addresses the crux of man's waywardness and failure to recognize and acknowledge the true source and purpose of our blessing, that is, by and to the glory of God. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

What a nice surprise to find your post on these blue pages again, David. I agree that one can honor our Father in prayer, fasting, deeds, etc., but until we fully rely on Him, we won't know His peace. Thank you for sharing here. God bless, Rae |

We will never be perfect David, but when we believe as it is evident that you do, God will do the rest. Love, Joyce |

A marvelous and delightful piece; we must always turn to Him, while yielding our lives for His Glory! --Joe Logic, when applied to people, fails miserably! --Joseph J. Breunig 3rd |

"Dethroning Self to God's Glory" Deleeme, what a man! This is a great poem. It is like calling out man/woman, saying this: Remember that there is a God who rules above human - and He deserves respect, love, praise and honour from us daily. "Let God in your life reign supreme" I love that line. Thanks!!! |

Stopped by for a visit and look who I found posting! YaY!!! David, Praise God! What a blessing to hear from you again and what a blessing is your poem in that, though it’s very humbling, yet, still, it exemplifies praise in that it calls for us to Glorify God by doing what is pleasing to Him rather than uplifting and pleasing ourselves. As always, a pleasure to read your poem, thank you for sharing, and God bless, -Bob |
