Shallow I walk a narrow path In the shallow waters, Afraid of the turbulence I see further out. Yet there is a peace That hovers unseen, A promise to be kept By You…that with faith I would feel no fear, For You are my life saver, My one redeemer, And still in the shallow I remain. Fear is like a boat …that takes in water, A sense of sinking, Going down. No allowances for movement …or growth Holds me back, And faith, my faith suffers. My feet on solid ground Barely touching Water's edge, This I can handle. But to step into the waves, Having nothing tangible To see, to touch Paralyzes me with dread. I am like Thomas, a believer …but with doubt. I have many questions …and so few answers. Dear Lord …suffer me, Frail as I am. Be the Captain of my ship That I might sail Across the waters of my fear …to safe harbor. |
