The devil was here today trying to get me to go with him he said it’s easier there where he lives easier to live with money and sex and selfish pursuits of my body the secret wants of my soul I could have it all he told me all the toys and friends I could ever imagine beauty from a bottle lovers by the legion anything but You. the devil was here today telling me this burden was Your fault Your sick and twisted way of teaching me ‘nothing’ he said ‘is taught but pain and suffering’ there is no pain where he lives just the callus way to not care about others ‘who cares about them’ he said the devil was here today stretching out his hand and inviting me to come with him “what of God?’ I asked “don’t think of Him child. He gives you all these trials and burdens. I offer a life free of Him and all His lessons’ the devil was here today offering me so much yet nothing I looked around my world saw tears and heartache yet joy and peace hope and comfort and then I saw God’s smile in a rainbow and felt His touch in the wind the devil was here today offering me everything but God and Love I’ll take the sorrow that shows me joy and the heartache that shows me life and peace in the palm of my Father’s hands the devil was here today but I sent him back to hell with empty hands and an empty heart but knew he would be back to try again and tempt me away but nothing can pluck me from God’s hands. Isaiah 1:18 "Everybody loves a rose, will you be thankful for the thorns?" -All Together Seperate |

I know that devil All too well He tempted me too At the gates of hell I tried his way for a while, and found I could not live that way A life empty and upside down... Thank goodness I looked up And found God waiting Now a satisfying life I live And there's more to come, oh the anticipating . . . your poem inspired me... enjoyed the read and glad to hear there was a happy ending for you... |

Your poem is very very true to life and true to how the Devil tempts us with his lies and deception. Very well written. God bless and loved your testimony that nothing, absolutely nothing, can tempt you away or separate you from God's Love. Good job, -Bob |
