Fingers dip under the water and they emerge wet clean Three times they slide beneath the surface Mouth hot, breath sweet water fills, pumped like a beating heart and released three times Hands are cupped, and released as cascading crystal spills through my fingers three times i brush some into my nose, again three times hands garmented with fragments of water and light run over my head and neck swirling in and out of ears i wash up to my elbows on each arm three times splashing water over me then each foot and ankle recieves three rinses my breaths are deep and full purified I stand shoulder to shoulder with all my sisters we stand in back, proud behind our brothers heads bowed, words serenade the dimly lit room every solemn breath is breathed for Him words in my ears smooth and slick like silk at times an ocean, oceans away from here in every direction at this moment beneath the purple sky bands of my brothers, my sisters line up too i imagine the air there is the same as it is here somehow always the same when man is humbled before Him, together in a moment I am face to face with faith Shoulder to shoulder with my sister She is me, I am her We bend together speak together kneel before Him together standing finally, and repeating, once to the left once to the right, "As salaam 'alai-kum wa rahmatu' allah" "Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah" Tai |

I love the unity here expressed in your poem be it the Canaanite Elat, Hebrew El or Elohim, or Aramaic Alaha all summed up in a single word expressed as 'Allah' or as I most familiar refer to as 'GOD' and, yes, let 'Bismillah' for as it is to me an all inclusive expression that means in simple terms that everything that we do (breathe, live, write, exist) be only accomplished because and through the Grace and Love of our Great Creator. ....Oh, I love the purification along with the unity that you've expressed here that you have with your brothers and sisters.... and of course I join you in your prayer and in your desire, my friend, that Peace and the Mercy of (Allah) GOD be upon us all. (Amen) -Bob |

This is a beautiful write. How lucky we are to live under the heavens of a Supreme Being who bears many different names yet unites us all in faith and grace. |

I read this poem a few times and found it to be very intense. The last couple of times that I read it, I read thru it fast and the poem seem to come together and began to intrigue me. Nice job. |
