Lonely Stray A lonely cat has found his way To hopeful sanctuary In untidiness of my back yard; Midst weed and vine and berry. He know I am the source of food. He watches from afar As I fill a dish in my greenhouse And leave the door ajar. I worry that his food's untouched For more than just a day. I wonder if he's come to harm Or merely strayed away. But then I see, he's come again And licked the platter clean. Without a single word of thanks, He slips away unseen. He reminds me of myself when I Take favors from my Lord, Then thoughtlessly go on my way Without a thankful word. Dear Lord, forgive me for the way I have neglected to Remember that my blessings And my joys have come from you. Joyce 8/03/07 |

Joyce, Your poem is a Wonderful poem that I thought read like a very Wise parable. There definitely is a lesson to be learned from reading it. I never thought that I could relate my life to that of a stray cat, but, yes, I certainly can because I too have many many times taken the tremendous blessings and the incredible provisions of our Lord for granted. God bless you and thank you for sharing this Wonderful poem and lesson with us. -Bob |
