I've Tried A Life Without You (New Challenge) |

For a long time, I knew God, believed Christ to be my Saviour, but I still lived my own life. I kept myself apart from God. I did nothing about what I knew in my heart. This challenge I issue, is in a nutshell, my story... I've tried a life without you and it just made no sense. I made you into a neighbor, built a nice pretty fence. I'd see you from time to time, saying hi now and again. I'd even knock on your door, but I wasn't ready to come in. Yet still, Lord I felt you - you just waited with a smile. Though I didn't deserve it, you loved me all the while. You invited me in for coffee, we sat and talked for a time. You made me feel so loved, like All Of You was all mine. Then your arms found me, and I found a place called home. There was nothing left to search for, nowhere left to roam. So now I live in your house I've taken down the fence. You broke through my humanity and gave my soul a rinse. Sovereign Lord, full of grace, no longer are you my neighbor. But my reason for living; my God; my resurrected Saviour. © Steve Nelson In the sight of Love, fear isn't even as great as a single hair: in the law of Love, everything is offered as a sacrifice |

Oh, I can so identify with this one. I too, knew who He was...smiled and waved in passing, but didn't want to get too close, knowing it would demand a change...a total look at myself, and I wasn't ready to give up self. But God is so patient and loving...I am so glad He waited on me, and gave me another chance to know Him personally. Great write, and it touched me personally. Hugs, Dee as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. |

Steve, Sometimes taking the next step is the hardest challenge that we face, well, at least at the time it is and I suppose, in that sense, especially as Christians, we are always being challenged to climb a bit higher in Him. I really do appreciate that you shared a bit of your testimony here. I thought that it really added a special touch to your poem and that it will probably relate to many many people who have or even are going through something similar in their lives. God bless, -Bob |
