BECOMING AMERICAN We have always been a nation of immigrants, Yet immigrants cause us to divide. Newcomers are welcome when legitimate For their energy, talents and pride. To many besides the undocumented Break our laws despite what they say. As the anxious by the thousands Pour over our borders each day. The absolute one way to bring America to ruin Is to let it become a clash of nationalities. Even now as we argue and debate We’re ignoring our long-term realities. It’s time to bring back the melting pot Or at least an updated application. For one and all to assimilate and embrace The laws that sustain our nation. Everyone must learn about America’s heritage Our democratic principles and freedom of choice. All must be taught the values by which we’re defined And English both printed word and voice. We can volunteer to teach English to immigrants And invite them to our church, synagogue or home. What each of us does can make a difference As the seeds of our culture are sown. Your words are so welcoming and uniting, Tom. I really like the idea of us reaching out to help those coming into our country so they can learn our language and customs. That's that Christian way to look at it. Thanks much for sharing this. Rae |

Thank you ray for your kind words. Tom Zart SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF WORLD WAR III Our sons and daughters serve in harms way To defend our way of life. Some are students, some grandparents, Many a husband or wife. They face great odds without complaint Gambling life and limb for little pay. So far away from all they love Fight our soldiers for whom we pray. The plotters and planners of America’s doom pledge to murder and maim all they can. From early childhood they are taught To kill is to become a man. They exploit their young as weapons of choice Teaching in heaven, virgins will await. Destroying lives along with their own To learn of their falsehoods too late. The fearful cry we must submit. And find a way to soothe them. Where defenders worry if we stand down The future for America is grim. Now’s not the time to fight one another Or kiss our enemy’s cheek. All through history it remains the same The strong enslave the weak. May God continue to bless America Refusing evil, the upper hand. It’s up to us to stay resolute Defending the liberty of Man. Tom, Your poem was very engaging and my favorite stanza of your poem was... quote: I love that you wrote in your poem that it’s important “for all who assimilate and embrace the laws that sustain our nation” because I believe the laws that most sustain our nation as well as any other nation who will adhere to them are the universal laws that sustain Life in general or, in other words, the laws of God and in particular the Ten Commandments: Thanks for sharing and God bless you. -Bob |

Thank you Bob for your love for God and America. HE WHO FANS THE COALS OF HATE An angry man opens his mouth And shuts his mind to reason He who stays slow to anger Is loved by more each season. Anger snuffs the lamp of thought And it's hard to stay serene. Where anger rules, hatred thrives, Then the world we love turns mean. He who fans the coals of hate Has no reason to complain, If some hot sparks scorch his face, His anguish is thus his pain. Anger is a human madness Which consumes the heart and mind. He who rules his spirit with love, Shall be praised by all mankind. By Tom Zart |
