Wont give in I have a dark cloud, over my head Filling me, with an unending dread I cannot escape it, cannot hide Cannot stop, the dieing inside I drown in a world, that is so lost Fight to get out, no matter the cost Claw at the lock, that traps me in here Traps me in horror, a world of fear I cry out to you, but you aren’t there You watch me die, and you don’t care You look away, pretend nothings wrong But soon ill be gone, it wont be long All that matters to you, is yourself A plastic life, placed up on a shelf You look down on me, thinking your great Teasing me, I ain’t taking the bait I’m better than that, though you don’t know I’m able to conquer, every foe I can get out, I can make it through You’re not my friend, and I don’t need you I used to think, that you were the one But life was hard, and things were not fun You spoke, and I listened, to your lies To you, my downfall, was no surprise You were greedy, ruthless and so cruel All you wanted was, my life to rule I wont give it to you, anymore I’ve found who will help me, off the floor My soul you cannot, satisfy If I listen to you, I will die You don’t love me, wont take care of me But I’ve found someone whose grace comes free When things are tough, and lifes looking grim The one that I turn to, will be Him His love is something, I cant replace And with His help, I will win the race Its not that great but watcha think? Its about someone (I) who is trapped in sin, listening to the lies of the devil (YOU) but the devil is happy that the person (I) is in a pit and cant get out. But finally the person finds God (Him) and is able to overcome their hardships, and able to leave the devil and his lies behind. I hope that makes sense. |

A good picture of a downword spiral in satan's clutches and the awesome realization that we can count on our Savior. The decision is ours. Rae |

greeneggs-n-ham, Not that I qualify as a poetry critic or anything, but, of the poems that I've read of yours so far, I liked this one the best. I felt that it really came from the heart and I thought you captured the inner battle very very well... He always is and will be the answer!!! Amen. Good job, God bless, and Happy Father's Day. -Bob |
