Stir, Lord, Stir (Thanks Encarta for introducing me to this format) A hand within the apple bin Makes apples move about. The Holy Ghost within its host Makes people dance and shout. A spoken word that's most absurd Makes others duck in shame. A firm "Amen!!!" will cause some men to glorify His name. A kid will rise when Mama cries, "You get up off that bed!!!" And sometimes when it's said again, You'll know just what was said. "And sometimes when it's said again, You'll know just what was said." Some things are done only in fun, But still they aggravate. ...And if we wait or hesitate, Most likely we'll be late. So, what do I here signify And hope that will be heard? It's behooving things get moving... Lord, let our hearts be stirred. -Lighthouse Bob [This message has been edited by Lighthousebob (02-01-2003 06:04 PM).] |

(giggles in delight) Oh Robert, I found it amusing how you added the kid and his mother scolding him to get out of bed in this wonderful spiritual message, it truly is that alarming and urgent that we embrace love and let Him guide us this way! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Robert, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! If I read this right, this format (and thanks to Poetry Workshop, I've been reading about meters and iambics, etc.)is iambic dimeter for 1st 2 lines, trimeter on the 3rd, and changing the pace on the last stanza to trochaic -also 2 lines dimeter, the last trimeter...and then you threw in rhymes! whew! how's that for displaying my "new" knowledge of such stuff? Knowledge is fine, how to apply it - *groan*- but this is not only crafted according to format "rules", but still carries the message home. Stir our hearts, Lord, indeed, for often we're in apathy. BTW, hope you read my 1st ballad "The Tree" - and that's thanks to your explaining it to me. |

I like this alot! lol made me laugh... but its all too true. It can get easy to get caught up in things and confused. Yes Lord, stir our hearts and refine the fire! Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |
