PUSHING THE STONE I feel like Samson pushing the stone, For I gave into love and now I'm alone. Betrayed by a woman, I gambled and lost And now I suffer what foolishness cost. Samson was blinded by the blade of a knife After his capture by the love of his life. Imprisoned forever and forced to grind grain To spectator laughter, the whip and the chain. The same so am I, a victim of chain, For I ‘ve too many memories of you in my brain. Together, my darling, from a window we shall peer, It will be from heaven both faraway and near. The heirlooms of tomorrow, the woman and the man, Though someday our ashes shall sift through the sand. By Tom Zart Author of LOVE WAR AND MORE FLOWERS' My job is in the open air And, Lord, I love the work I do For flowers are my joy of life Though their beauty belongs to you. Your flowers are so lovely; Yet, I'm ugly, wrinkled and old. I've lived beyond my mortal span As the days I have left unfold. Your lilies are my pride of life And many of them there be. They're worth a fortune, people say, Though money has little worth to me. Their glory is my just reward As their radiant heads they raise. I dedicate them to you, oh Lord, With all my love and praise. |

Do you think we have to experience the heartbreak of love to better understand how God feels about our capers and that He is the only one we can definitey count on at all times? I enjoyed them both but "Flowers" was far more uplifting. Thanks for sharing Rae |

Tom, Though these two poem instilled completely different moods for me and it's my opinion that both could stand up very nicely on their own as separate presentations, I thought that they were both well written and did make for an interesting title. Smiles. Personally, I do hope that I'm not quite pushing flowers or pushing up daisies yet. Smiles. Responding to your first poem; I'm sorry for your separation from your "darling" but, then again, I so appreciate that you still picture her as being in Heaven. I think that's so beautiful in the shadow of a broken heart and relationship. Responding to your second poem; What a blessing it must be to work in the open air with beautiful beautiful flowers and I really like how you dedicate your flowers to the Lord. Enjoyed reading your poems and God bless. -Bob |

Thank you Bob, WINE Wine was served at the Last Supper And guzzled in King Arthur's court. Wine can make a sad man happy And a mean woman turn good sport! |
