*~A Prayer to Death's Angel~* Oh, the other side is cold... I hear tell. My lover, You are... My favourite cage. You are the soul that waits in Winter's wizened womb And your Prophecy will be your tomb. Rid me; Of the father's blood that haunts my veins Of the crumbling kiss of youth decaying Of the ghosts that stand beside my bed As I sleep. A light, on my horizon My sight slips off into infinity; Where destruction and revelation meet and join, like lovers The heavens descend, all bedraggled with stars, folds of swollen rippling billows White As a drowning bride. Let the pathless ocean swallow me, swallow me whole! Drag me down to dark Neptunian depths; I'll pepper the hunched Necropolis with the pearls of a thousand wasted, shimmering summer days. Burn my dreams in effigy and scatter my soul with the ashes (Feathered footsteps Soft and swift as a heart's red pulse Into the night) Naked, pale and shriven at last Clawed raw by a screaming feline breeze I felt the mellow golden wings of dawn unfold inside me And make me whole at last Alone now, Let's lay down the ghosts of tomorrow, before ever they were born Let spill your final tears Death may spread its dark wings about you; may bind you with its ageless chains But while there's love While there's love Life and death are only passing shadows in the eye of Infinity. Now sit down beside me, love, we have an eternity to waste Whoever knew tomorrow had a taste? |

the quell, quote: Very romantic and a beautiful expression of eternal love. You seem to be a very accomplished writer. Your poetry is so rich and meaty. The kind one can really sink there teeth into and the kind that fills one up after they've digested it. I enjoyed your descriptiveness and reading your poem very much. God bless. -Bob |
