Last week I sent you
an activated gift card.
It enables you to call me.
But I don't think you will.
The activated card only
activates your ability to call,
not your desire.
But I will sit here
by the phone
patiently, and wait.
Perhaps the
mailman
was late?
Perhaps you haven't
checked your mailbox?
Perhaps you didn't recognize
the scribbled name
on the gift card?
I rarely use a pen,
this grey keyboard being the
modus operendi these days.
Last week I sent you
an activated gift card.
Perhaps you've lost
my number?
It's easy to remember.
Just dial
The Lost One.

Kacy,
Maybe it got lost in the mail. I sure can't find it! I gave my dad one for Christmas last year. And waited two months. I called him and asked if he really thought I gave it to him to call everyone but me. He got the point.

But your poem implies something more and I didn't miss that. Hopefully things will work out.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
