As I went for a walk The air was cold, but I was warm wearing sweatpants, but no shoes. I stopped by the little saltwater stream by the road and watched the fish swim. Then I saw movement that was not a fish It was a little turtle, No bigger than a golf ball Pale from the icy water. He struggled to get out of the water, But couldn't get over the slippery mud. I pushed through the reeds and sharp grasses, My feet sinking into inches of mud. It was worth it. I took the poor baby turtle out of the water Held it untill it was warm, And put it on the ground I wished it luck And went on my way [This message has been edited by Wind (10-19-2002 08:54 PM).] |

Even small acts of kindness are important. This is wonderful. I enjoyed your little act of kindness, and I'm sure the tiny turtle did too. |
