For the sun
to set
I wait.
Heart pounding,
beads of sweat
forming on
my upper lip.
My breath
comes quickly
as darkness
cloaks me
in a shawl
of anticipation.
Suddenly
you are a
shadow on the
moon.
I tie back
my hair
with the hem
of your cape,
tilt my head
to one side,
and close
my eyes
to the
madness
which follows.
Your strike is
sure and quick.
With a beating
of wings
you are gone.
I shiver in
the night air,
yet my neck
burns.
Through the
insanity
I know too well
that to-morrow
the blood red sun
will have to
set,
and once again....

I will wait.

Wow!!! Oh my gosh, now this is eerie and hauntingly delightful, sweet friend, I could almost feel the vampires teeth sinking into my neck reading this, I knew you had the dark side in you! LOL! NancyLee - yes I can remember...lol. I was never really scared.....MUCH!!!! Do you remember how frightened I was of the MGM lion at the start of a movie? I had to put my hands over my eyes...lol. Thanks for the memories and for always holding my hand when I was scared. luv ya!!

Chris, to not be able to write spooky ones, you say (????)....you certainly did a VERY good job. It kept me reading in anticipation for what the ending would be. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent Chris! I can't help but wonder how on earth you knew that this was one thing I hated as a child......it took me years to learn that they weren't real....hmmmm.....

Chris darling girl Truly exquisite writing, I love your writing any which way it is served but when you stir in the scary stuff and sprinkle in the touch of a vampire it transmutes into something that is exquisite beyond measure.
