"Nothing mortal knows what is immortal" -Plato "....For all the dismal tales, that poets tell, are verified on earth and not in hell" -Dryden . . . . If in the afterlife's a cozy nook where one ne'er starves, knows peace without torment, ensconced in friendly chair, a faithful book of ceaseless annals, hassocked legs unbent, to don loose fleece and flannel, hearth afire, forever to inhale Thanksgiving's scent and know that always violins inspire, then gladly I'll expire quite content As death's arraignment is without appeal it's when not if this soul it will declare, amid les miserable of the real I fantasize to lift from this despair If when that spectral shadow lay it's hand and leaves the corporeal to son and heir a soul I hope would find the promised land a place I knew too brief in Love's affair, passion in life is raptures nearest bliss, your eyes and lips, the smoothing of your hair, the parting and embracing of your kiss, if death is this I pray it take me there |

Richard You write with such control over words. The emotion is evident, but painted with such wealth, that my inclination is for awe not tears. |

Shakespeare would take you into his realm of wit, good Sir... I could hear the melodious voice of Olivier thunder in the deep read of this... Thank you for sharing! |
