I wandered away from myself got lost in the path of despair didn't know what I wanted to find but I knew that my heart wasn't there I tried to be somebody else couldn't see who I wanted to be I wandered away from myself in attempting a dream to be free I swam in the seas of my doubt while seeking the gifts that would numb I played in the waters of fear and fed on the scraps and the crumbs In the shadows of glass I awoke and I looked to the fragments of me but I'd wandered away from myself and the person I'd promised to be The darkness of night held me close as my tears brought the past to the fore while the waves of despair held my brow and the paths of myself were no more I wandered away from myself in a forest I'd not understood and iniquity's path has been paved with the shavings of heart deadened wood But return to the path I cannot so I wander forlorn and alone I wait for the guide and the path and the angels to carry me home Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.
