Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-12-09 06:56 AM

Talk me into the Night

I balk at the shadows closing in
the memories
don't walk when they come rushing in
the hurting
is chalked up to experience once again
and I know
to caulk the windows of my soul from the wind

~ * ~ * ~

so talk me into the night, my friend
walk with me in soft light, no end
of talk throughout the night to lend
a shoulder on which I might cry

hold me and hug me tonight and then
talk a little more my friend
then whisper that there shall be an end
Willow won't break, she'll continue to bend

sing to me a silent song all night
and caress away all of the fright
then never again let loose of tight
just talk me into the night

just talk to me, my friend

Two different poems here, same theme
I prefer the second one, it flows better to me.
Although the broken rhyme in the first section is nice
But ends without the little add on the other lines use.

Your words are quite beautiful and touch a special place for me at this moment in my life--thank you!

Morning Karilea,
I don't see this as two separate poems, but rather the first part as the reasoning, or feeling, just before the need comes in ...of wanting someone to talk the writer through the night.
I love this as it has a far different feel and quality than your other pieces Karilea.
Much enjoyed and I recall this feeling..this need...
Your writing continues to grow in leaps and bounds.
Wonderful write full of longing.

Karilea

I liked the seperation of the emotion from the longing solution.  The emotional pull of this is real, the poem beautifully done.

Karilea, the thoughts here are very beautiful. So often, all a person needs is  a friend to talk  and to listen to them.
I loved the poem exactly the way you wrote it.
(BTW, you look very happy in your new picture..... I like it)

Karilea,

This caused me to think of the need of a real friend who is capable of just listening, being there for however long, with no opinion or judgement.
No shame, no blame, no suggestions, just quiet, listening love.

Enjoyed. Warm regards, Pat

I find this such a statement of lonelines and pathos...beautifully done  Ken

I just noticed your new photo! I love it! You look so real---and fun-lovin'--and you have an incredibly magnetic smile--I'm smiling back at you--I couldn't help myself even if I tried!
