Holden Caulfield * and a .38 Four claps of thunder in a New York sky The tranquility of December raped A body lays on the steps of the Dakota eyes closed in familiar wireframe rims as if in dream and Yoko screaming Candles and prayers could repel deaths icy hand The earth mourns a beloved son the working class hero the people's poet Who fought for peace and life but was robbed of his own His spirit has never died it lives on still in the hearts of the oppressed, the voice of the voiceless forever John A poor tribute I know, but the topic is too close to heart. Though I was only four at the time and didn't understand the full extent of the tragedy, I grew to understand just what a terrible loss it was. His music and words have enriched my life and were a guiding force in my love of writing and music. They helped me through many tough times and I am forever greatful. Thank you John * Killer Mark David Chapman believed he was the protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye.. [This message has been edited by Aenimal (12-07-2002 04:47 AM).] |

Raph, this is a fine tribute. Thank you for sharing this one, as John Lennon is still one of the greatest songwriters to ever walk this planet. For me, his music is as alive today as it was then. |

Very well stated and written. His music touched the lives of many. Can you imagine the world without the song Imagine? He was a talent that we all treasure, thank you for this. |

Wasn't born till eight years after. You shouldn't put yourself down for this all. He was a great man and he left us all with a very imaginative world and beautiful music. Poetry is love and love is life. |

Raph, what a beautifully written tribute to such an excellent writer and musician. BTW, friend, you are a VERY talented poet, who writes from your heart. The feelings and compassion that comes forth through your writing is very touching. Quit putting yourself down, friend. "Love makes the world go around" |

Dear one -- Don't put yourself down. Be proud of what you write! This is a loving and kindly tribute to a great fallen man. A day a bright star was snuffed out; sadly for all, young and old. Hugs, Marti 'A witty saying proves nothing.' |

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Raphael, this is such a beautiful and compassionate dedication to one of the best songwriters of all time, sweet friend, I too think his songs will always live on and there is a little John Lennon in all of us, if only we can all imagine and frolic in the strawberry fields like him! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Raphael, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! As long as he's remembered, loved, and respected, he will live on, and Noah's words struck me just now -- "there is a little John Lennon in all of us"... Such is the power of music... (and poetry...) -MVS "AS ABOVE SO BELOW" |
